When: October 29-31, 2010
Where: Honolulu, HI
Celebrating its 20th year, the Hawaii Lacrosse Invitational is one of the premier lacrosse tournaments in the world. With 30 teams from Japan, Canada, the mainland and beyond, the Invitational annually brings a crowd of 2000 fans to witness the fastest game on two feet.
Highlighting the tournament–Team Iroquois made the trip to compete in the Men’s Elite Division. It marked their first meeting with the indigenous Hawaiian people with whom they share parallel struggles–and strength–alike. The native Hawaiians fight to gain federal recognition just as the Iroquois battle to gain international acknowledgement.
It was Team Iroquois’ first field lacrosse competition since opting out of competition at the FIL World Championships last summer. Forced out of the championships over a visa dispute, they honorably elected to uphold their sovereignty instead of competing.
The centuries old sport, originally played by teams of hundreds—or thousands—in games that could last days, its origins are rooted in legend and elaborate rituals. Not only a sport, Lacrosse was played as a spiritual endeavor, meant to give thanks and praise the gods.
Standing the test of time, the sport still inspires. Combining inner strength and teamwork, those who play and those who watch embrace the shared passion of the lacrosse experience.

We wish to thank you once more for the wonderful ideas you gave Jesse when preparing her post-graduate research and also, most importantly, with regard to providing many of the ideas in a single blog post. Provided that we had known of your web site a year ago, we will have been kept from the useless measures we were selecting. Thanks to you.
