Native American Basketball Invitational

When: July 6-10, 2010
Where: Phoenix, AZ
Like the winds sweep over the open prairie, teams of thirteen take command of the court every year at the Native American Basketball Invitational. Better known as NABI, it was the first all Native American tournament sanctioned by the NCAA. Drawing national attention to these outstanding high school athletes is NABI’s primary focus, while also striving to help them succeed off the court, through the pursuit of higher education.
Showcasing these athletes–which otherwise go largely unrecognized for the huge talent, drive and potential they represent–NABI uses sports as a tool to inspire excellence within each player. Being among the most talented players in the world, athletes in this community have a passion for the game that goes back generations.
At NABI, now in its ninth year, there is an undiluted focus and dedication displayed on the court that is powerful yet unlike any other. A spirit for the sport, and a traditional way of life, that paints a picture of success for the rest of us to admire.
Sharing respect for tradition and hope for the future, the athletes at NABI unite to show the world the power that lies within each of them.
